Week 6: Ramjets Get First Win
30 Old No. 7 at 38 Bill's Team
Bill's offense bounced back behind a strong game by Marion Barber. Old No. 7 did not really do anything wrong this week (outside Meachem's no-show) but Tony Romo was the only real stand-out in this close-fought contest. The win gives Bill a full 2-game lead in the Middle Division over Old No. 7 and Malleus.
Bill's Team covered 6 pt line
Bill's Grade: B-, offense: B, defense C-
Old No. 7 Grade: C+, offense: B-, defense: D
2 Malleus at 0 Buffalo Bills
Andre Johnson's 12 pts was nearly half the total offense for Buffalo. Newly acquired from Capo, Mario Williams led the Malleus defense to a dominant shut-out -- overcoming an even worse offensive performance by Malleus. This win really keeps Malleus in the game, 2 games behind division leader Bill's Team and tied for the final wild card spot.
Malleus upset Buffalo Bills and their 12 pt line
Malleus Grade: D, offense F-, defense B+
Buffalo Grade: F, offense F-, defense D
46 Mimes at 15 Flannel
This looked like a passing of the torch game more then a match-up of top teams. Mimes went large on offense this week behind Philip Rivers (27 pts), Frank Gore (13), and Greg Jennings (10). Flannel continue to slide. Peyton looked like the Peyton of old but Addai, Santana Moss, Vrabel, and Cromartie all put up 0's. The Mime win keeps the preasure on Drow atop the Left Division. Flannel's loss keeps them only 1 game ahead of Capo in the Right.
Mimes cover their 10.5 pt spread
Mime Grade: B, offense B+, defense C-
Flannel Grade: F, offense D, defense F
18 Drow at 8 Capo
This was a tough game. Drow got the big lead early behind Aaron Rodgers (20), Charles Woodson (15), and Calvin Pace (14). Terrell Owens and Shayne Graham combined for only 1 pt for Capo to help dig that hole. Then Brandon Jacobs and Plaxico Burress came out like gang-busters with a score each in the first half of Monday night only to bog down and leave Capo short of the win. Drow maintain their 1 game lead on Mimes in the Left while Capo remain 1 game behind Flannel in the Right.
Drow cover the 1.5 pt spread
Drow Grade: B, offense: C, defense: B+
Capo Grade: C, offense: C-, defense: B-
0 Beavers at 37 Ramjets
I obviously thought Ramjets would win, but I did not see this beating coming. Clinton Portis (23 pts) and Braylon Edwards (15) carried an offense that had bad performances from Eli and Matt Stover. But the defense really carried the day. David Harris' 5 pts was their worst performance. Beavers fall to .500 and 2 games behind the Left Division lead for the first time this season. Ramjets pick up their first win.
Ramjets cover the 4 pt spread
Ramjet Grade: A+, offense: B, defense: A+
Beaver Grade: D, offense: D, defense: C-
11 Brawlers at 15 Hamburglers
This game was pretty ugly. Brawlers did not put together a 2-game winning streak. Brawlers went with Orton at QB and he did OK. Westbrook did not play and that hurt Brawlers a lot. LDT's still doesn't look like LDT. In the end this game was decided by Hamburglers' home field advantage. Hamburglers are 2 games under .500, but are only 2 games behind the Right Division lead.
Hamburglers do not cover the 4.5 pt spread
Hamburgler Grade: D, offense: D, defense: C
Brawler Grade: D, offense: D, defense: C+
