Week 5: And the Mighty Shall Fall
15 Mimes @ 0 Beavers
Beavers' on-again, off-again offense was off this week. Meanwhile Mimes put together their 3rd game of 86 or more points in their last 4 outings. Mimes' balanced but unspectacular offense was complimented by a huge game from Charles Tillman (23 pts). Beavers did not have a single offensive player score double digits. With the Drow loss, Mimes now join Beavers and Drow within a single game of each other.
Mimes covered the 5.5 spread
37 Brawlers @ 22 Drow
All 3 undefeated teams lost this week starting with Drow falling to the previously winless Brawlers. Brawlers put together their first respectable game of the season, without much from Westbrook as Kyle Orton turned in a great impersonation of a fantasy QB (24 pts). Meanwhile Drow got a big, fat goose egg from Schuab and their worst team performance of the season.
Brawlers upset Drow and their 20 spread
20 Capo @ 12 Bill's Team
Last week, Capo just missed knocking off then 3-0 Flannel. This week, they topple the previously 4-0 Bill's Team. This was the second straight bad offensive performance from Bill's Team. Getting Jason Campbell into the line-up did not help as much as I would have thought. Capo got their second big game from emergency-Plaxico-sub, Isaac Bruce (14 pts). With Flannel's loss, Capo pull back to within 1 game of the Right Division lead.
Capo upset Bill's Team and his 6 spread
28 Hamburglers @ 43 Old No. 7
LDT went missing again but the rest of the offense picked up the slack only to be stone-walled by Old No. 7's defense. Recent addition Nicholas Harper (10 pts) led a balanced defensive effort that was the difference in this game. Coupled with Bill's loss, Old No. 7 pull to within a game of the Middle Division lead.
Old No. 7 covered the 3.5 spread
22 Ramjets @ 38 Buffalo Bills
This appears to be a season of heartbreak for the Ramjets. Another solid outing looked ready to net them their first win when Antoine Winfield scored 25 pts on Monday night to steal the win away. A good all-around game from Buffalo may have saved their season. Instead of 1-4 and last in the division, Buffalo sits 2-3 and only 2 games back in the ultra-competative Middle.
Buffalo Bills covered the 15 spread
18 Flannel @ 35 Malleus
Clearly, no one was safe this week in FLOF. Flannel fell to Malleus making the 4-0 teams in FLOF 0-3 this week. Malleus finally put together a good offensive game and Flannel fell back to earth with their first truely average game of the season. This was a big win for Malleus to end a 3-game skid.
Malleus upset Flannel and their 22 spread
