Team Rankings, Week 4
Looks like 3 weeks worth of data was a little misleading. Lots of movement on these rankings since last week but a lot of similarities to my pre-season rankings.
1) Capo: Instead of looking like a mostly average offense, it now looks like an average offense at worst. I like Romo and Capo's WRs in general and Edge has been a pleasant surprise. I don't like the depth at RB. Hasn't scored less then 64 in a game. The only team to score 90 or more twice already.
Up 6 from last week; Up 1 from pre-season
2) Flannel: Really 1B. I'm a true believer now. This team may not explode for 100 pts but both sides of the ball are consistently good. Sure, there is a bit of luck involved in going 4-0 but 3-1 is about what I would have expected out of their game scores so far. They haven't scored less then 68 in a game. Manning and Addai are a deadly combo.
Up 5 from last week; Up 1 from pre-season
3) Bill: Last of the 3 teams I know belong up here. Bill's been complaining about the curse of a preseason #1 ranking, but I still think this good team will eventually get his wins. The defense has been spectacular, never scoring less then 25 in a game with 3 games in the 30's. The offense is pretty strong too with some decent depth. What I don't like about this team is reliance on defense. But maybe I need to get over that.
Up 5 from last week; Down 2 from pre-season
4) Beavers: This team might still be #1 but the wheels came off last week. Maybe it was the weekly rankings curse instead of the Vegas curse. I'm most worried about the WRs. Don't know how hurt Johnson is, but Steve Smith may be pedestrian with Carr at QB. But despite success now, this team could be scarier in a year or two after one of the best drafts I can remember.
Down 3 from last week; Up 2 from pre-season
5) Old No. 7: This might be the hotest team in FLOF, running off 3 in a row since benching Leinart. Delhomme's injury doesn't help, but Ronnie Brown may produce something this year to go with Chad and Anquan.
Down 3 from last week; Up 4 from pre-season
6) Brawlers: Also have not lost a game in their last 3 outings. But there run includes a tie and a very lucky outing last week. Lost in glare surrounding Favre are their lack of solid or healthy RB and lack of a #2 WR. Depth will also be a problem for Brawlers unless they get active in free agency.
Down 3 from last week; Up 2 from pre-season
7) Drow: Similar to Brawler in that they have had two good performance and two bad ones. The good news for Drow is that their good performances have been their most recent ones. Really this team is about Julian Peterson and Keith Bulluck who have almost single-handedly won two games. I keep thinking that you can't count on defense to win you games.
Up 4 from last week; No Change from pre-season
8) Hamburglers: I still really like this team, its just under-performing with Walker and Tomlinson not pulling their weight. LT finally showed signs of life last week so maybe there is hope yet.
Down 1 from last week; Down 3 from pre-season
9) Malleus: Given Haydn's penchant for change I'm tempted to not rate Malleus, because who knows who's going to be on this team in 5 days. But despite all the changes, Malleus has been the model of consistency and averageness, always scoring the league average (71) +/- 7. They are the only team to have not scored above 80 nor below 60 all season.
Down 5 from last week; Up 3 from pre-season
10) Mimes:
Twice this year they've gotten negative points from Philip Rivers and scored less then 30 offensive points in losses. Once Rivers played well and the team put up big numbers in a loss. Another game got rescued by a massive defensive effort that we haven't seen since. Rivers was supposed to be the future, is Norv going to kill that?
Down 5 from last week; Up 1 from pre-season
11) Rednecks:
Earily similar to Malleus, Rednecks have been very consistent -- scoring 53, 64, 65, and 67 pts this season. Of course Malleus is average 10 more pts per game then Rednecks are. The good news is that LJ looked better last week and Tom Brady is still pluggin away. If the defense comes around a little, they could turn this around in a hurry.
Down 1 from last week; Down 11 from pre-season
12) Ramjets:
Not sure what to say here. On one hand, they are obscenely lucky to have 1 win. On the other, they actually have some players who just aren't producing like they could or are injured or haven't seen the field at the right times. The good news for Ramjets is that with most of the league at or below .500 they aren't out of this yet.
