Week 5 Rankings
The Top Tier
1. Flannel (up 1)
WHAT! How can they move up after losing? 'Cause this isn't a re-stating of W-L records. That's the standings page. Its a ranking based on recent actuall points scored. And right now, Flannel is scoring a LOT of points: 54 pts / gm on offense alone AND 30 per on D.
4-game trends: offense A, defense A, total A+
2. Drow (up 1)
The other 3 teams in this tier are the top 3 teams in defense over the last 4 games. Drow are merely average on D but they've been the best team on O over that stretch averaging 60 pts per and have not scored fewer then 70 total points in that time.
4-game trends: offense A, defense C, total A
3. Beavers (up 3)
One of the really odd things about this top tier is that the top three teams in the group are all .500 over the last 4 games -- a bit below what I would have figured. Beavers, however, are 3-1. The Beaver D has been superb all year. Look for this team to rise in the rankings with McNabb back under center potentially stabalizing the offense. Beavers are 2-0 with him and 1-2 with Sanchez.
4-game trends: offense C, defense A, total B+
4. Hamburglers (down 3)
The Hamburgler offense has been inconsistent but the defense has been pretty good over the last 4 weeks.
4-game trends: offense B, defense A, total A
Showing Well
5. IC Lagers (up 1)
The offense has been producing with three 50+ point games over the last four. The defense still needs consitency.
4-game trends: offense A, defense C, total B+
6. Rednecks (up 2)
Look! A defense, at least last week. And the offense is still playing well. They look like they should battle Malleus for the Middle Division.
4-game trends: offense A, defense F, total B+
7. Malleus (no change)
Malleus have actually been a bit more balanced and consitent then either Lagers or Rednecks but they are more reliant on defense (something I'm always antsy about).
4-game trends: offense B, defense B, total B+
8. Ramjets (up 2)
A recent key for Roger seems to be picking a RB. He did pretty well the last two weeks and that's made a big difference to an offense that scored no more then 41 pts for the first 3 weeks of the year. And Braylon Edwards escaping Mangini-land should help too.
4-game trends: offense B, defense C, total C
Struggling
9. Mimes (down 4)
Weeks one and two are distant memories. The defense has scored more then 16 only once in the last 4 weeks and the offense scored 23 and 25 two of the last 3 weeks. Rivers is back next week, but that may not be enough.
4-game trends: offense C-, defense D, total C
10. Bill (down 1)
Bill had an excellent week 2. Since then the team has been erratic with two average outings and one real stinker. Week 2 is looking like an annomoly.
4-game trends: offense C-, defense B+, total C
Not Good
11. Old No. 7 (no change)
The whiskey bottle is really struggling at QB. Romo has been benched and Flacco responds with a bad game. Maybe one of these guys can perform down the stretch.
4-game trends: offense D, defense D, total D
Gets His Own Category For Badness
12. CAPO (no change)
Brees is back next week. Chris certainly hopes it will be weeks 1-2 Brees and not weeks 3-4 Brees. Because Jacobs has only had one good game this year and Moss is the only WR scoring points and not at his usual pace. Result? Three consecutive unbelievably bad outings.
4-game trends: offense D, defense F, total F

1 Comments:
Beavers were 2-1 with Sanchez...not 1-2.
