Week 3 Review
Ramjets 30 - Old No. 7 26
Don't look now, but the team I wrote off two weeks ago is in first in the Right Division. I don't think they can keep it up, but 2 wins is 2 wins. This game was all about defense. Ramjets brought one, Old No. 7 did not. Old No. 7's best defender scored only 2 pts while Ramjets' worst scored 3.
Ramjets grades: Offense D, Defense C+, Overall D
Old No. 7 grades: Offense B, Defense F-, Overall D
Bill 26 - CAPO 0
This was a week for surprising results. Bill's QB-RB-WRs scored less offense then his K and D but he still won. Partially because his D was stout and partially because CAPO offense was even worse. As the only team in the middle division to win this week, Bill picks up sole possession of first.
Bill Grades: Offense D, Defense B+, Overall C
CAPO Grades: F, Defense F-, Overall F-
Beavers 22 - Mimes 0
Darrin would probably like a mulligan for this one. Beavers did not play their best football, but Mimes ended up with 3 starters gaining 0 pts -- the biggest being Gore's injury-induced goose egg. That said, the Beaver D came to play and was easily able to shut-out Mimes to keep Beavers record unblemished atop the Left Division.
Beaver Grades: Offense D, Defense B+, Overall C
Mime Grades: Offense F, Defense D, Overall F-
Rednecks 41 - Hamburglers 41
Now this was a fun game. It had a bit of everything: offensive fireworks, mis-scoring by the commish, late defensive pts added due to slow box score updates, and a near-failed last minute come-back that results in another tie. Both teams played well as Hamburglers put together a good offensive and defensive outing and Rednecks' offense exploded to compensate for the continued lack of D. The tie puts both teams 1/2 game out of the lead in their respective divisions.
Redneck Grades: Offense A+, Defense F, Overall A
Hamburgler Grades: Offense B+, Defense B+, Overall A
Drow 36 - IC Lagers 13
This would have been a lot closer with a healthy Westbrook but IC Lagers' defense also failed to show. Meanwhile, Drow put together their second solid outing in a row and picked up the win this time. Aaron Rodgers was the key offensive performer for Drow this week. IC Lagers remain winless, but have not put together a real clunker yet.
Drow Grades: Offense B+, Defense C, Overall B+
IC Lager Grades: Offense B, Defense F-, Overall D
Flannel 58 - Malleus 26
Malleus played their best game of the season on both sides of the ball but Flannel did them one better and picked up the win. Peyton Manning and Santa Moss primed an offensive explosive for Flannel, who seem to be over their season opening debacle.
Flannel Grades: Offense A+, Defense B+, Overall A+
Malleus Grades: Offense B+, Defense B, Overall B+
