Week 8: Malleus Take Control of Middle
15 Ramjets @ 40 Capo
Big win for Capo -- beating back a resurgent Ramjets. I had written down on my scrap paper that this would be Ramjets' toughest outing if they were to make a run for the playoffs, but the Ramjets loss reduces their margin for error big-time. Ramjets would have to win their last 6 to end with a winning record. Capo meanwhile, keep pace with Flannel atop the Division.
Capo upset 3.5 pt favorite Ramjets
Capo Grade: C+, offense: B, defense: C
Ramjets Grade: D, offense: D, defense: F
44 Hamburglers @ 48 Flannel
Flannel pull out of their 3-game nose dive with a last minute rally around Peyton Manning. This was a really close game with neither team putting up any resistance to either team's solid offensive play. The win is nice, but Flannel will need to play better to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Flannel covered their 2.5 pt line
Flannel Grade: C-, offense: B, defense: F-
Hamburgler Grade: C-, offense: B, defense: F-
25 Beavers @ 14 Bill's Team
Beavers have won two in a row to stay in the hunt in the Left Division. Bill has lost two in a row to fall back into Malleus' hands in the Middle. Two teams headed in different directions right now.
Beavers covered their 3 pt line
Beaver Grade: C+, offense: C, defense: B
Bill's Grade: D, offense: C-, defense: D
43 Mimes @ 13 Old No. 7
Both of these teams played really badly last week -- Mimes bounced back while Old No. 7 played even worse. Mimes have won four of their last five and stay 2 games behind Drow in the Left. The whiskey bottle [Van Halen's "Take Your Whiskey Home" playing the back ground as I write this] has lost three in a row and remain two games behind pretty much everyone else in the Division -- "I think that you're headed for a whole lot of trouble..."
Mimes covered their 8.5 pt line
Mimes Grade: B, offense: B, defense: C
Old No. 7 Grade: D, offense: D, defense: F
39 Drow @ 9 Buffalo Bills
Drow's best offensive performance of the year and Buffalo's inability to defy their every-other-week trend led to this result. Buffalo actually made this look closer with a stellar defensive effort gone to waste. Drow remain two games in front of the rest of the Left while Buffalo stays two games behind Bill and Malleus in the Middle.
Drow upset 3.5 pts favorite Buffalo Bills
Drow Grade: A, offense: A+, defense: D
Buffalo Grade: C-, offense: F, defense: A
16 Brawlers @ 38 Malleus
Malleus win their fourth in a row to take control of the Middle division. Malleus' defense countered a sighting of the Brawler offense.
Malleus covered their 16.5 pt line
Malleus Grade: B, offense: C, defense: A
Brawlers Grade: C-, offense: B, defense: F-
