Least Valuable Players
I thought it would be a fun exercise to build a list of the
players on the opposite end of the most valuable spectrum. These underachieving
players were chose (by me) due to the fact they completely bombed in the regular
season –and in some cases took the FLoF owning team with them- but were
considered cornerstone players at the beginning of the year.
QB:
1st
– Eli Manning (Dynasty). Outside a strong first game, he was a turn over
machine this year. He scored 6 games with a single digit and once with a -5.
Somehow Dynasty was able to survive, but Eli was eventually cut in favor of his
older brother.
2nd
– Carson Palmer (Maniacs). Drafted #4 in the 2013 draft, he never performed as
hoped. He would have a half decent game, immediately followed by a terrible one
-or 2- until benched after 8 games.
Dishonorable
mention – Michael Vick (Rednecks)
RB:
1st
- Trent Richardson (Rednecks). Thought
to be a top-5 back at the beginning of the year, he scored only once in double
digits over 7 games, even after being traded from a bad team to a good one with a great QB.
2nd
– Lamar Miller (Capo). Another RB that was supposed to have a break out year. Only
thing he broke was Capo.
Dishonorable
mention – C.J. Spiller (Bronies), Arian -that ain't MY kid - Foster (Lagers)
WR:
1st
- Hakeem Nicks (Capo). Though 9 games, he once scored over 5 points.
2nd
- Marques Colston (Hamburglers). 8 games, 2.63 average per game. Another
receiver that posted one game over 5 points.
Dishonorable
mention- Greg Jennings (No. 7), Steve Smith (Hamburglers)
K:
1st
- Kai Forbath (Bill). Here is a great example of why not to franchise a
kicker. Forbath score 13 points over 3 games before getting cut.
2nd
- Sebastian Janikowski (No. 7). This isn’t to say that Seabass was bad. He was
the 5 highest scoring kicker. Just seems like a waste of a franchise spot when
the #1 scoring kicker (Gostkowski) was drafted in the 4th round.
Dishonorable
mention- Bill and No. 7. These were the only 2 franchises that used a protection
on a kicker. Franchising a kicker gets you called out here.
DF:
Jason
Pierre-Paul (Capo), Patrick Willis (Bronies). In a good year for the DF position, these guys
were bad after being franchised.
Dishonorable
mention- Clay Matthews (Capo), Cameron Wake (Mimes)
DB:
Troy
Polamalu (Dynasty), Patrick Peterson (Mimes). Both franchised, both
disappointed.
Dishonorable
mention - Baccari Rambo (Capo), Kam Chancellor (Maniacs). They were not
drafted, but probably should not have been added in free agency either.
Special Dishonorable
mention- Maniacs for protecting the retired Antoine Winfield.

Great List! There isn't a single guy on there I disagree with.
I'd throw in Colin Kaepernick. He had two good games and then 9 more where he scored 14 or fewer points.
Ray Rice. He was wisely not played much this year. But what a quick fall from grace.
Colin had a bad start but I did almost include him. Rice was just a plain oversight. Good catch and well deserved.
I'll defend my protection of Sebastian. I bet none of the guys I cut had nearly as many points as he did.
I suppose if you didn't have another player you dropped due to not having enough protections, you could have done worse than Janny. I just needed to give anyone franchising kickers some grief.
