Doug's Pro Bowl DBs
Previously: QBs | RBs | WRs | Ks | DFs
Saving the best for last! Just kidding. So I did the same recalculations for DBs that I did for DFs in relation to tackles. I ended up seeing fewer really excellent DBs which made putting together the pro-bowl team even easier.
DBs
1st Team: Antrel Rolle (Drw), Earl Thomas (Drw)
2nd Team: Ryan Clark (Mal), Eric Weddle (Bro)
Only 5 DBs had a median score of 8 or more (top 3rd). The four above plus Harrison Smith. Smith played the fewest games of this group (5) and none of his numbers were significantly different.
Rolle only played 6 games (ironically all after Smith went down with an injury) but his median score (10.3) was a point better than anyone else's and he didn't have a single bottom 3rd game. In fact he didn't have a single game score below 7.
Thomas, Clark, and Weddle had almost identical numbers (median scores between 8.8 and 9.0; value over median per games between 2.1 and 2.6; top 3rd scores between 5 and 7; and bottom 3rd scores of 2 or 3). Thomas had the fewest bottom 3rd scores (2) over more games player (10) than Clark (2 over 9 games) or Weddle (3 over 13 games) and highest VOM per game of 2.6 (Clark = 2.1, Weddle = 2.3) so I gave him the nod.
The next tier of guys was Jarius Byrd, DeAngelo Hall, Barry Church, Morgan Burnett, and Eric Berry. In total there were 22 DBs who contributed positive value over median to their team's and 2 who broke even on the year. And the 22 positive contributors all played at least 5 games.
There were 21 who contributed negative VOM. But only 6 of those played 6+ games. While Antoine Winfield played 7 games and never scored a point, I suspect that may have been a coach inflicted wound. Baccari Rambo was perhaps the worse performer as he started 10 games but only once scored more than 2 points in a game despite evidence that he actually played most of those weeks.

2 Comments:
I have :
1st : Rolle, Hall
2nd : Berry, Haden
Additionally, Winfield would not have score a point if he'd been in all 13 games, seeing he's retired and all.
