Free Agency Review
Free Agency contributes slightly fewer players to the league then Franchising or the Draft but it is also much less evenly used by teams. All but two teams franchised 8 players and one of those franchised 7. The Draft contributed between 6 and 12 players to all teams but Bill's. But Free Agency runs from Mimes who picked up only 1 all year to Bill who acquired 14.
The top 5 teams in this table really got a lot out of Free Agency this year in different ways. The next four teams helped fill gaps but didn't get a lot of traction out of it. The last three teams really did not have much luck in free agency.
Four teams really dominated Free Agency. Bill, Malleus, Drow, and Dynasty combined to acquire 41 of the 63 players picked up in free agency this year. And all four got positive value out of the process.
Some individual highlights.
Maniacs
Three of their FAs did not play this year. Karlos Dansby played one great game of 15 points over median which makes us overlook Percy Harvin's two terrible games.
Bronies
Only acquired two players in FA. But Daryl Smith played 10 games and was a stud DF all year. Adam Vinatieri was a forgettable kicker but only played 3 games.
Drow
Drow got far and away the most total value out of their free agent class in terms of VOM. Of their nine acquisitions 8 played at least one game. Three players really lead the charge: Josh Gordon who was a dominant WR over 8 games, Earl Thomas who was one of the best DBs over his 10 games, and DeAndre Levy who was a very good DF for his 8 games. Garrett Hartley was a completely average kicker over 8 games. The rest of the bunch saw limited work and sometimes also limited success. Case Keenum gets a bit of an asterick. He was pretty bad for 3 games but was only really acquired in order to consummate a trade.
Lagers
Lagers did not do much in free agency acquiring only 4 players with none of them playing more than 4 games this year. But Julius Thomas was a beast for 3 games.
Bill
Bill skipped the draft and built his team through free agency and did a decent job of it. Four of his free agents played 10 or more games this year and all four of them did at least passable work. Kiko Alonso was a stud DF. T.J. Ward was a stud DB. Caleb Sturgis and Duke Ihenacho were slightly better than average players for 11 games each. The rest of the bunch played 4 or fewer games and did not contribute much either way for Bill.
Dynasty
Dynasty picked up 8 free agents this season and all played at least 1 game. The best of the bunch was easily Vontaze Burfict who was the best DF in FLOF for the 5 games he played. Barry Church was an excellent DB for his 6 games. Tyrann Mathieu was a bit of a dud however over his 5 game stretch.
Malleus
Malleus did really well with most of their free agents that saw playing time. Keenan Allen and William More played 15 games combined at a high level. Jordan Cameron and Steven Hauschka also did well over a combined 9 games. But Justin Houston was a disaster for four games.
Mimes
Acquired Charles Woodson for one game and he did ok.
Rednecks
Actually did not get too much out of their class of free agents. Kenny Vaccaro was the best and played 12 games but was only slightly above average all season long. Alterraun Verner was basically the same over 7 games.
Hamburglers
None of Hamburglers' four free agents had even a single game in the top 3rd for their positions. But none of them were too bad for too long.
Capo
Only one Capo free agent played any but Baccari Rambo played 10 games and only once scored above a bottom 3rd score.
Old No. 7
Jospeh Randle did a lot of damage in four games and no other whiskey bottle free agents played more then 1 game or provided positive VOM.
