Mid-Season Report: Right Division
If the season ended today...
Hamburglers would win the division because they beat Ramjets back in week 1. Ramjets would enter into a tie-breaker party with three other teams to decide the two wild card spots. CAPO would be out of it and Flannel would be visiting IC Lagers in the Toilet Bowl.
First half looks
Hamburglers started the season 2-0-2 but have lost 2 of their last 3.
Looking at their QBs and RBs I wonder how this team has a winning record. Their QBs are averaging close to 8 pts/gm and their RBs are averaging barely 5 pts/gm. Good thing Jared Allen has been unreal -- averaging over 10 pts/gm over a full 7 games. New additions Trent Cole and Darrelle Revis look like they will work out real well so the defense is solid. Ryan Longwell is doing fine at kicker and Reggie Wayne and company are forming a solid WR group. If the top of the roster comes around this team could be trouble.
Ramjets have not lost two games in a row all season on their way to a 3-2-2 record.
Ramjets are a pretty average-to above average team across the board. Except at WR and kicker. Welker has been hurt most of the season and the rest of this gang has done nothing good. Welker returned last week so maybe that helps this under performing unit. Meanwhile, Kris Brown needs to be fired. He's averaging 5.5 pts/gm. Inconsistency has been the buzz word at the top of the roster. Schuab, Eli, Brown, and Portis have all had good games and stinkers so far. Finding the hot hand will be key down the stretch.
CAPO started off 1-0-1 and then lost four of their last five.
The defense has been abysmal. No one on defense is averaging 5 pts/gm or more. The kicker isn't doing particularly well and Randy Moss has been the only bright spot at WR. Meanwhile Brandon Jacobs is averaging 6 pts/gm. This is how you can have a QB averaging over 20 pts/gm in Brees and still be the worst team in the league.
Flannel had two good wins weeks 2 and 3 but haven't won another game to start the season.
On offense this team resembles CAPO a bit. Peyton is also averaging over 20 pts/gm but the running game is averaging 6 and his WRs are averaging 5 each. The kicker isn't doing well either. The names may be different but the results are similar. The thing keeping Flannel competitive has been a solid defense. James Harrison is averaging a crazy 11 pts over 6 games. The rest of the defense has been solid and Polamalu has been excellent after his return from injury.
My predictions
Hamburglers should finish well enough to win this division by going 4-3 to the end with a final record of 7-5-2 and the third ranked division champ.
I don't trust that Ramjets will be able to finish strong and predict a 3-4 trip to a 6-6-2 record.
Flannel has been pretty unlucky recently, but I don't think they can rally enough to get to a playoff spot. Even a 5-2 second half would only get them to 7-7.
CAPO should continue to collapse with a 2-5 mark the rest of the way culminating in a final record of 4-9-1 and a Toilet Bowl birth.
