Week 3 Rankings: Flannel Remain #1
1. Flannel, no change
Unafraid of the rankings curse, Flannel is the first team to stay in the #1 spot this season. Flannel's defense is driving the car right now with two games over 40 pts. Flannel is the only team to have scored 76 or more total points in every game so far, but the offense might need to step up its game if they want to hang with the guys closing in below them.
2. Bill's Team, up 4
On que, Jason Campbell steps up and puts in a credible imitation of a fantasy QB. If he can keep that up this team is very scary. If he can't they are only a little scary. The Bill offense has scored 70 and 80 pts in their last two games.
3. Mimes, no change
After a great two week run for Mimes with consecutive games of 103 and 96 total pts, don't believe the standings in the Left Division, its a mirage. The only reason Mimes aren't 2-1 right now is because they played that last game on the road. They have looked much better then either the Drow or Beavers so far this season.
4. Buffalo Bills, no change
For a while there I thought it was me. But no, Bills really are good. Another 1-2 team that is much better then the standings. However the Middle Division is looking stacked right now with 3 teams in the top 5, so their 1-2 start might come back to haunt them or at least force them down to a wild card slot.
5. Old No. 7, no change
Last week Old No. 7 won with offense, this week it was the defense that came through with a big game. They will have to keep clawing away for wins though because Bill and the Bills will be tough fights in their division.
6. Drow, down 4
The offense went back to being mediocre and the defense has been coasting since their week 1 explosion. They are pretty lucky to be 3-0 right now. Either the team starts playing more consistently or the loses will start coming.
7. CAPO, no change
CAPO put in a pretty average effort this week. Thanks in part to their vaunted WRs who put up a measly combined 2 pts... which promptly got Randy Moss fired. Perhaps that will shake CAPO back to their week 1 form, adding Plaxico certainly looks like an upgrade to me.
8. Ramjets, up 1
Its official, this team is not nearly as bad as that week 1 effort. The only thing they need now is a win A second solid effort resulted in a loss last week. Ramjets probably need to find some improvement though or they will continue to have weeks like this where they score respectably but not well enough to ensure a win.
9. Beavers, down 1
Lots of stability in the rankings this week leads me to believe I was right last week to down grade Beavers. Beavers put together a really bad effort last week and now must worry about a banged-up-Westbrookless-McNabb and a Purple Jesus who seems lost in the desert.
10. Malleus, up 1
That's two really bad games in a row for Malleus. And they just traded away their best WR. I'm not sure this gets better this season. The only thing keeping hope afloat right now is their week 1 effort that did not look totally terrible.
11. Hamburglers, down 1
I'm real close to just declaring Hamburglers the Bill's Team of 2008. I think I picked them to be the best team in FLOF a couple weeks ago and I still think they have a ton of potential, but I remain very afraid that they will inexplicably remain bad for most of the season. I've got no rational at all for that, just what my gut's telling me.
12. Brawlers, no change
10 points on offense is bad. Certainly a lot of that is due to Westbrook getting injured in the middle of his game last week, but in the bad news category, did I mention that Westbrook got hurt last week?
