Week 8 Rankings
Things seem to shifting some this week. The number of consistently great teams is dropping as more teams prove they can be good and bad in consecutive weeks. Malleus and Mimes are the only two really scary teams while most of the rest of the league is doing well but certainly have room for improvement.
The Best
1. Malleus (no change)
median EWP = 91%, avg EWP = 88%, variance = 10%, luck = +0.5 wins
Malleus had their worst game this week since week 4, but that means they only scored 85 total points. Their offense has been propped up by carrier days from McFadden and Garrard in consecutive weeks but on the other hand, it continues to work.
2. Mimes (no change)
median EWP = 81%, avg EWP = 74%, variance = 19%, luck = -0.5 wins
Another really solid game this week from Mimes who continue to prove that week 6s 70 pt game was an aberation. Mimes will also be happy that their record is starting to catch up to their scoring.
The Contenders
3. Drow (no change)
median EWP = 73%, avg EWP = 62%, variance = 37%, luck = -1.0 wins
Worst game of the season this weekend for Drow, by far. The stats are giving them the benefit of the doubt for now, but they have proven that they belong more in the pack then in the lead group. The offense continues to be the problem when they don't do well.
4. Lagers (no change)
median EWP = 73%, avg EWP = 62%, variance = 35%, luck = +0.5 wins
Very similar to Drow but their offense has been solid while their defense has been what lets them down when they don't do well.
5. Old No. 7 (up 3)
median EWP = 66%, avg EWP = 55%, variance = 34%, luck = -0.7 wins
That week 4-5 debacle is a long ways away but the offense collapsed again this week only to be carried by one of the best defensive performances in years.
6. CAPO (down 1)
median EWP = 63%, avg EWP = 57%, variance = 27%, luck = -0.3 wins
Very similar looking team to Old No. 7 in end results but while Old No. 7 is having trouble with their offense, CAPO is having trouble with their defense.
7. Rednecks (down 1)
median EWP = 56%, avg EWP = 61%, variance = 20%, luck = -0.4 wins
Rednecks continue right around league average in every category. Their variances are also average. On the plus side, they don't give away games with the occasional terrible result, but every game is a struggle.
On the Verge (of Contending or Sucking)
8. Ramjets (up 1)
median EWP = 52%, avg EWP = 52%, variance = 25%, luck = +0.4 wins
This feels a little like last year when Ramjets kept hanging around the Right Division lead despite being awful then righted the ship, won the division, got hot in the playoffs and ended up in the FLOF Bowl. They've been hanging around a terrible division so far, but now they seem to be pulling themselves out of the scoring basement.
9. Beavers (down 1)
median EWP = 47%, avg EWP = 42%, variance = 19%, luck = +0.8 wins
The offense hasn't exploded since week 4 but the defense has been contributing in trying to keep this team from sliding too much.
Already Out of It?
10. Bill (up 2)
median EWP = 29%, avg EWP = 27%, variance = 20%, luck = -0.1 wins
Speaking of teams whose records are starting to more resemble their scoring. The offense has been better then average at best but the defense has been lousy -- scoring less then 20 in each of their last 4 efforts.
11. Flannel (no change)
median EWP = 25%, avg EWP = 26%, variance = 12%, luck = -0.6 wins
This week the offense crumbles while the defense gets back to normal. No real change in Export.
12. Hamburglers (down 2)
median EWP = 24%, avg EWP = 22%, variance = 9%, luck = +0.1 wins
Hamburglers have scored between 53 and 62 total points in all but 2 games this year. That is the model of consistency.
