2012 FLOF Mock Draft, Revisited
In red I'll add my post draft comments. I thought I had this draft figured but picks 3-5 increasingly went off my script before Jim brought us back to where my mind was. That's what happens when you assume that everyone is going to think like you do.
In 48 hours the 2012 FLOF draft will be winding down... I hope. I'm going to admit up front that I'm going to be vague about the first two picks because I think I actually know who they are taking and that would be cheating...
1. NY Hamburglers
His this-year-need is probably at WR, maybe Jordy Nelson. If Jamie is looking long-term, the consensus pick here might be Trent Richardson if he feels ok with Matt Ryan as his QB of the future. If not its time to break out the Luck jerseys. I like this pick and knew it was coming so I was vaguer then usual and claim no credit for my skills.
2. Bronies
Bronies shed a lot of players in the off season and appear to be in full rebuild mode. So I will assume Mike is looking for best available long-term prospect. I'd probably start at QB and Andrew Luck if Jamie doesn't end up there. Otherwise, its depends on how he feels about RG3 vs. Trent Richardson. I like this pick as well and also knew it was coming.
3. Capo
Well, they certainly do not need a QB. I think its possible that Trent Richardson falls to Chris here. If not, perhaps he takes Darren Sproles or Doug Martin here. I suppose a WR is possible, but I think that's something he can do later in this draft. Well, RB seems the right call here for Chris but Wilson the 3rd RB on my big board. I would have picked Trent Richardson here. As an aside Best Giant Available may quickly become Capo's official nick name. (Tip o the Hat to Mike.)
4. Old No. 7
I think Jason is looking at a rookie here or a RB, or both? And by this point, its possible that the first 3 picks were all rookies but that Doug Martin could be left for the taking. The top 3 picks were rooks and Doug Martin was available but Jason went Sproles. I can't really argue with this pick but I just feel like Sproles is another Reggie Bush in some respects. Good points in total, frustratingly inconsistent in reality.
5. Mimes
I don't think Darin will like how this is working out, he needs a RB and I think Darren Sproles may be the next best one left. I forgot Darin is the king of round 1 defense. He'd scratch the RB itch later in the draft.
6. RAV
Jim was aggressive rebuilding in free agency this off season. Perhaps its time to look at a QB for the future. Ryan Tannehill? I can't imagine Jim thought he'd get Trent Richardson here. I tried multiple times to trade back up to take him before here but no luck.
7. Bill's Team
Back up QB time? Carson Palmer or Alex Smith? To be honest, if I were going QB, this is the guy I would actually have taken with that pick.
8. Rednecks
Good looking core for the Rednecks. What do they need? Maybe a WR to throw on the PS? How about Justin Blackmon? John waited until the end of the draft to grab his rookie WR and instead started filling out his starting roster with defense.
9. Flannel
Clay needs depth. Is Aaron Hernandez the best player left on the draft board or Miles Austin? Clay wanted rookies so I gave him the next highest rated rookie available... and maybe a back up QB.
10. Drow
Best RB available may be Stevan Ridley. Turns out best available RB was Doug Martin, whom I had as the 2nd RB on my board and am pleased to get. And I ended up with Ridley in the 2nd round anyways.
11. Bronies
They got a young QB at the top of this round. Maybe they pick up David Wilson as a RB to stash on the PS. Mike tells me he would have been happy to take David Wilson here, but the top rookie RBs are all gone so he went rookie WR instead and starts a run of 7 consecutive WR picks.
12. Lagers
Not sure where Tim goes here. Maybe he gets all crazy and takes the top defensive player on his draft board... Darrelle Revis? Who knows. Tim went WR and got one of the top fliers for this season.

I like the revisit the draft idea, but you should have put the actual pick in there so I didn't need to flip between this page and the draft page. :-)
