FLOF Rules Committee Report
The FLOF Rules Committee considered a number of items this year:
- Should we Add TEs?
- New Owners and Division Realignment
- Return Yards from Turnovers
Two were approved, one was not.
Two new owners come into FLOF this year -- the most new owners since the league expanded to 12 teams in 2006. Mike will take over the Fightin' Bitin' Beavers from Steve. Steve was a founding member of FLOF and long term rules committee member and will be sorely missed. Appropriately, Jim will take over Roger's Ramjets. Jim knew Roger for many, many years and has promised to run the franchise "with the tact and aplomb that Roger demonstrated in his years of playing Magic with us." (Note that from what we can tell this may mean Jim's players could be sacrificed as cannon fodder on a regular basis.)
With two new owners, I took the opportunity to propose a new division alignment. My main goal was to try to even out the teams based on their recent quality and obvious rivalries.
The new Left Division includes hold-overs Iron City Lagers, Murrysville Drow, and the old Beavers now taken over by Mike. Moving from the Right to Left will be Roger's old team now run by Jim.
The new Middle will include hold-overs Malleus Maleficarum and Old No. 7. Capo Di Tutti Capi and the Export Flannel move over from the Right.
The new Right has sole hold-over NY Hamburglers joined from the Left by the Mighty Midtowne Mimes and from the Middle by Rednecks and Bill's Team.
Return Yards
In a quick, unanimous decision the committee approved counting return yards after a fumble recovery or interception the same as punt and kick return yards.
TEs
Finally, there was much discussion of adding TEs. John proposed various simple and moderately complex plans and I offered a very complex plan. None of the plans ended up getting enough support to become a new rule and John has vowed to never bring it up again (this may have been the 3rd year in a row John suggested.)

1 Comments:
I went and looked. I first proposed the TE idea back in 2008. So this was the 4th year running.
