Free Agency Mechanics
Rules Committee considered a couple free agency mechanics, nothing too serious.
The only change made was to make it so that you can finalize a free agent any time up until kick-off. This is most relevant for uncontested bids. Previously you had a noon Saturday deadline. But this was largely an artifact of a more manual day.
There are two known exceptions that we will accommodate: players whose team is on a bye that week or whose team played Thursday will have a noon Sunday deadline now. Obviously, if you want to start a player whose team plays on a Thursday you would have to claim them and start them by that deadline.
We also discussed two other modifications that got kicked to the curb.
1) Allowing free agency during the week of the FLOF Bowl (currently prohibited). There was no initial consensus on this idea.
2) Changing the tie-breaker for when there is a tie in free agent bidding. Currently, the current bid leader wins ties. I proposed we make it random.
In neither case did we think there was enough reason to make the change.
